Daedalus Aviation offers mountain check out packages that you can enroll in using your own aircraft or one of ours. The "standard mountain check out" package consists of one day of ground school covering basic altitude operations, aircraft performance, understanding density altitude, properly leaning your aircraft for altitude, flying mountain routes, navigation in the mountains, flight physiology and mountain weather patterns.

Then you will fly in a new Cessna 172 to Leadville (the highest paved airport in the lower 48 states), then across the continental divide to Aspen. The flight will cover several commonly used mountain routes and passes and will expose you to different mountain techniques.

Daedalus Aviation also offers an "expanded package" that includes visiting Kremling or Granby and crossing the continental divide over the Moffat tunnel. Leadville Package

Get your Leadville certificate at the highest paved airport in North America. Fly our most basic package in a new Cessna 172 with an instructor at your side as you learn how to navigate the majestic rocky mountains to and from Leadville.

Aspen and Leadville

Looking for a little bit more than just the basics of mountain flying. Tour beautiful Aspen, land at Leadville along the way, and enjoy some of the best mountain flying in the country in a new Cessna 172.

Kremling/Granby & Moffat

Our most comprehensive mountain flying course has you engaged in two full days of training. This is everything you need to know about mountain flying! Visit Aspen, Leadville, Kremling, Granby and then over the Moffat tunnel. This package includes one full day of ground training and 6 hours of mountain flying in a Cessna 172.
